Wednesday in TX

Today, we walked to the park to let the kids play and enjoy some time outside. The weather was beautiful this morning. It wasn't very hot and nice walking weather. The park is about a mile away from Nana's house. The pathway winds through what they call the Bayou. It is in their neighborhood. Yes, it's that big of a neighborhood. The kids had a blast playing but the play things were a little bit too tall for Mylie to do by herself. So, she improvised. She found a stump to play with. I gave her a stick and some pine needles and she cleaned off the stump. She is always cleaning while playing. I know that she doesn't get this from me, it must be her Mimi. Ha!
After the park, we walked back to the house and loaded up to head for lunch. We went to Ph'o restaurant to eat. It is Vietnamese. We ordered white meat chicken soup. It had chicken broth, chicken, and clear noodles. It also contained some different spices. I tried my best to eat it but I had to stop because something didn't feel like it would settle right on my stomach. I gave the rest to Tyler to eat. She loved it. I love the fact that Houston has so many different eating options. The number of different cuisines is countless here. I am really enjoying being able to sample them. Tamara was concerned that I would be upset since I didn't like lunch. I totally expected not to like everything I try, but to at least try it out. We made a run through the drive through at Wendy's after lunch. Ha!
Then we headed back to the house for naps, then more swimming before dinner. After the kids went to bed, one of Nana's friends came over with brownies and we all watched the movie Baby Momma. It was just as funny as the first time I saw it. Now, it's late and I am in bed trying to hold my eyes open. I know I should sleep because with Tamara there is never a dull moment. We have the lots more on our list of things to do in Houston. So, stay tuned!

Fun Day!

Today we went to the Children's Museum of Houston. We had so much fun. I'm not sure who had the most fun, the grown ups or the kids. This museum was way cooler than Adventure Science or Discovery Center back home. The kids just played and played. For lunch we went to Udipi Cafe. It was Indian cuisine. Luckily, there was a buffet for lunch so I got to try many different things. I did like it, but I'm not sure that it would be on my list to go back to. I couldn't even tell you what it was that I had. I asked our waiter but I could not understand anything that he said. The wait staff played with Mylie and of course, she talked to them and blew kisses back to them. After lunch, we went back to the house and rested. Then for dinner I cooked my famous baked spaghetti. It was a big hit a well. After dinner, we went for a late swim to try and wear the kids out before bed. That mission was accomplished. Mylie was so tired that she began to pull my hair and not act very nice. So she went to bed a little bit early. For the most part, she has been a very good girl. Some days we are not at the house for her to get a full nap so she has to nap in the car or stroller. This causes her not to get a full nap so she get grumpy toward the end of the day. I don't think I can blame her for that. All in all, we are having a blast and staying very busy. Here are a few pics from today.

So, the birthday party was very fun. We went to Dry Creek Cafe and the food was wonderful. When we got back to the house we went for a swim and then cooked dinner. The kids went down for bed and the adults stayed up and played cards. We had so much fun. We played peanuts and spades. Peanuts was a new game to me.
Today, we went to eat lunch at one of Tamara's favorite places. We went to Chuy's. They have the best creamy jalapeno dip ever. It comes free with the chips and salsa. After lunch, we went to IKEA. That place is the best. I loved it. I wanted to get Mylie this chair but they were out of stock. Bummer. I have to wait until they get some in stock hopefully before Christmas. So, after a 3 hour trip to IKEA we came back and swam again before dinner. Mylie is really enjoying being with her friends. They all treat each other like brothers and sisters. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. I'll check back in tomorrow.

We're Here!

We made it yesterday about 3:30 to Tamara's Mom's house. The car ride was way better than I expected. When we got here, we ate some wonderful goulash, then unpacked the car. After that, we put on our bathing suits and went for a swim in Nana and Poppa's pool. After dinner, we took a LONG walk to the playground and let the kids wear them selves out. After the hike back to the house, we ate desert and turned in for bed. This morning, we have taken things easy and the kids are now napping. When they get up, we will be going to a birthday party at a restaurant in down town. We are having so much fun. Hopefully we will remember to take our cameras out today and get some pics of the kids. Hope everyone is doing well! We will check back in soon!

Arkadelphia

We made it about half way! 5 kids, 2 adults, one van and lots of movies later we are finally settled in at the hotel. The kids have been great. Right now they are all laying on the bed watching some tv. We are going to get up in the morning without a traditional alarm, I think that Mylie alarm will work just fine. We will eat a breakfast provided by the hotel and then be on our way to Houston.

I had my Dr. apt. today. All was well and we heard the heart beat. It was fast like Mylie's was. Doc said everything looked great and right on schedule. That has put my mind at ease. Nausea has been down today as well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I know I haven't posted pics in a while, and hopefully on this trip I will get some worth posting.

Wondering where we've been?

We have been here mostly at home. I have not been feeling myself lately and am resting quite a bit. I would like to say finally that we are pregnant. I am due in May and have my first doctors visit Friday. I will keep everyone updated. I am nine weeks along, this is still very early, and I ask for your prayers throughout for our new baby. I remember being nauseous with Mylie but this time it seems to be ten times worse. Many have said that means its a boy. I think it has something to do with chasing after a 17 month old. I have really felt yucky for the past month and hopefully will begin feeling better soon.

So, Friday, Mylie and I will being heading out on a road trip. We are going to Texas with our dear friends to visit their Nanna and Poppa. I am so excited and a little nervous. I haven't been away from Justin for this long, especially with Mylie. I can't wait to experience a new city with Mylie and our friends. Tam says there is some really good food down that way. We are going to the Houston area. So, if you have been there and have any suggestions, feel free to post a comment and let us know what your "must see" is. Also, we will be driving with 5 kids, so any car ride games you can suggest would be wonderful as well. I will post and have pics from Houston soon! Hope everyone has a great hump day.

I really do not like Comcast, but what choice do I have?

Our Internet has been acting very crazy lately. It will connect for a few minutes and then kick us out. Justin has been on the phone with his brother for a few nights in a row trying to get it straightened out. I really wish I could switch Internet providers, but that would mean I would have to change my email, which I would really hate. I am signed up with this email to so many other accounts that it would be a major headache to change. Besides, Comcast Internet is supposed to be the best for our area, I'm not so sure I believe that. When you call them to see if they can help you restore your connection, someone answers and is usually reading off a script on a computer. This totally irritates me, you would think these people would know more than you about all of it, but most times they don't. When you ask them a question they don't know the answer to, they just repeat the answer to the other question, like you don't notice! Aggravating to say the least!

Anyway, did anyone else catch Rudy's speech last night? I thought it was totally hilarious!

If you are reading this in the a.m., please say a little prayer for Justin, he is taking the SGT test this morning!

Most of my free time is being spent on a special project. It is something that I have wanted to do for a long time. It should be complete somewhat by early next week. I will post pics later.

THE FAIR is close! I have such mixed feelings about the fair. I love to see the animals, but as an adult, I'm not so fond of the rides. So, are you going to the fair this year? If so, what are you planning to do? Go see the animals, the pageants, the rides?

We hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Update

So, I know it has been awhile since I have posted, but you know life happens.

I was trying to think of all the things that we have been up to lately and there were so many different things I wanted to remember but already forgot! Ha!

First, Happy Birthday to Granny Ma! We love you so much.

Next, there were two things that I wanted to share with the blog world about Mylie. She has been climbing up the walls! That girl makes my heart jump every minute. She is climbing on the dining room chairs, the couch, the entertainment center, anything she can get her hands and feet on, she is climbing. I told Justin that we are going to have to turn our furniture upside down to keep her safe. I did resort to moving the chairs into the laundry room the other morning, because I got really tired of telling her not to get on them. My friend laughed when I told her that. She said, " Are you never gonna let her sit in a chair because she fell off of one?" I thought it was a good idea..... Anyone know were to buy a plastic bubble?

Mylie has learned how to give kisses. Real ones. She purses her lips together while making the "mmmmmmm" sound and then when she makes contact, she says "aaa". It is so stinkin' cute.

The child has a major vocabulary and an opinion about everything. She can say, hello, bye bye, momma, daddy, mimi, nanny, pop pop, Jesse, nite, nite, NO, apple, door, balloon, dog, beep beep for car, more, sing, itsy for itsy bitsy spider, and many more I am probably leaving out.

The kiss thing just gets me. I sure when she can say "I love you" it will be even better. For her to be able to show affection that way just melts my heart. She runs to give Justin a kiss when he gets home from work. The other day a Sunday School, she gave Mrs Rosser three kisses while telling her bye. Totally unprompted and so so cute.

Today we were fortunate to receive a free little tykes toddler slide. Someone at church was giving it away. Mylie LOVES it! I am hoping this gives her something to climb on rather than the furniture. She knew exactly what to do and how to do it. I didn't have to show her how to go down, she did it all by herself! She is growing up way to fast.

O.K. so I am tired and going to go to bed now, Gail and I are going to the Quilt Show in Nashville tomorrow, so I need my rest. Ha!

Oh, I have some pics I would like to get on my computer from my phone, does anyone know how to do that? Please help if you do. Email or comment will be fine.

Do you know what one of the sweetest sounds is?

When supper is finished, I clean up the Kitchen and Justin takes Mylie upstairs to take a bath. I hurry around to get the kitchen clean so that I can listen to them from the bottom of the stairs. It fills me with joy to hear the two of them playing and laughing together. He is such a wonderful dad and husband. I know that she enjoys this time with him because the other day, we traded jobs. He cleaned the kitchen and I took Mylie up for a bath. The whole time, she called for her daddy. I guess I wasn't doing it right. Ha!

Splash Pad

Today Mylie and I went to the Splash Pad in Smyrna. We met some friends there for a little fun in the sun. Except there wasn't much sun today. That was o.k. because the kids had fun anyway. This place was a little smaller than I expected but produced a good hour of fun. The best part, it's FREE and is fenced in! It was a great day to go because it was not crowded at all. I would have been very nervous if there had been a lot of kids there running around since Mylie is still so small. The funniest thing happened, but it probably made me look like a bad mother. Mylie took her towel and put it over her head, like she does a lot. She started walking around in the water with her towel still over her head. Then, she turned and was walking out of the water and walked straight into the fence! She fell backward and began to cry. I could not help but laugh. So did everyone else! Poor baby!
