1st real pump knot

Well, I knew it would happen someday. Mylie fell going out our back door. There are two steps down to our patio and I'm not sure if she fell down both or one of them. When I heard her cry her hands and head were on the patio and her feet were still on the last step. Poor thing cried and cried. Now she has a nasty looking knot and a scrape on her cheek. She would not let me put ice or a cold washcloth on it. We settled on some Neosporin Plus Pain.

Happy 2nd Birthday Mylie!

Today is Mylie's second Birthday. We celebrated early with a birthday party last weekend. We had friends and family over to the house. The kids played on the new gym set that Neno and Aunt Lulu bought for Mylie's birthday. We had snacks, pizza, and wonderful cupiecakes made by the one and only Paula (Auntie). Mylie received some really nice presents for her birthday. She really enjoyed seeing everyone and playing outside. Here are some pics from the party.




Today, as long as her fever is not back, Justin and I want to take her to Chuck E. Cheese. This is one of her favorite places to go. We have only been a hand full of times, but every time we pass the mall, she talks about it and wants to go back.

I can't believe that these two years have gone by so fast. It was this morning that my water broke. It was Sunday morning about 9 am and Justin was at work. I called him home and within the hour we were at the hospital. 12 hours of labor later, Mylie was here! That night, Justin was so proud of his little girl. When we let everyone in to see her, he would hold her out so everyone could see her, but no one else held her. No one even asked. They said the look on Justin's face let them know better! He actually didn't even let me hold her again till much later! I would tell him that I haven't gotten to see her much and he would hold her over me so I could see here, but he wouldn't put her down! It was so cute. We are very proud of Mylie and the way she is turning into a sweet little toddler. Of course we have our "2" moments, but she is so smart and can communicate so well. She can speak in full sentences. She loves to sing. Among her favorites right now are Mary had a little lamb, Jesus loves me, Row row row your boat, Pat the Bible, and the Wheels on the bus! She is so adventurous. She will climb the walls if she can find a way. She can open doors, turn a flip, and dress herself. She knows what manners are and we are working on consistently asking for things with a "may I please." She reminds Justin and I to say our prayer at the dinner table. When she get really excited and want to do something, she grabs our face with both hands and looks us right in the eye with these really big eyes and tells us all about her excitement. She calls sweets "candy candy" and it is so cute the way she says it. It is hard to resist. She know all the names of her friends at church in her class and looks forward to going to see them all. We are having so much fun watching her grow everyday. Mylie, we love you beyond words. You are a pure joy. Happy Birthday sweet baby.

This is what you get

when you ask a 23 month old to take off her p.j.s so that you can put her clothes on her. I went out of the room to change over the laundry and heard Mylie saying "Help, Mommy!" I came back into the room, and left again to get my camera. She cracks me up. And, NO, I didn't not ask her to change her own diaper! Ha!

Getting Ready.

We have been so busy lately getting the house and the bedroom ready for Lilla. I am now 35 weeks into my pregnancy. Everything is going well. I have an appointment today and start going every week now. I am super exhausted from chasing a 23 month old. I can't believe that Mylie is almost 2! We have also been busy planing a birthday party! The time really does fly by. I am amazed every day at how much she understands and can communicate. We have been working on manners recently. This morning, she came up to me and said, "May I please have some oatmeal?" I about fell over! Usually when she asks for something, it is a demand "Oatmeal!" and I have to say to her, "how do we ask for something?" Then she will say "please.." or I will prompt her to say it correctly. Mylie also loves to sing. When we are in the car it is one of her favorite things to do. She also will sing herself to sleep many nights.

We have had many play dates in the past few weeks. We are going back to Bounce U tomorrow with some friends. I will try and get some pictures. Last time we went, my camera was on a weird setting and the pics turned out horrible. Play dates are a lifesaver for me. It is nice to get out of the house and enjoy Mylie playing while not having to worry about keeping the house clean. Our favorite places are the Mall soft play, the Nashville Zoo, the playground at the end of our street, Kids Castle, and Mrs. Elizabeth's house.

Mimi's Birthday

Saturday was Mimi's Birthday. So, Sunday after church, we went to McMinnville for dinner and some play time. Nanny cooked a wonderful vegetable soup, cornbread, and crescent hot dogs. I made a chocolate on chocolate cake with strawberries on the side for desert. We had a great time visiting. Even though it was Mimi's Birthday party, she painted mine and Mylie's toes! I guess I should have painted hers! Here are some pictures from yesterday.

Date Night

So the other night, Justin and I had the opportunity to go to a "grown up" party. It seems like when you have children, most of the parties that you attend are children's birthday parties, baby showers, or wedding showers. I'm not complaining, I like going to those as well, but it is very nice to go to a gathering as a couple all dressed up! We had such a fun time at Rae and Scott's reception at the Stones River Country Club. I had the chance to see a few friends that I haven't seen in some years. The party was wonderful, the food was great, and the decorations were beautiful. It is rare that I would like a picture of myself, and post it, but here it is. I thought this one wouldn't break the screen.

Meet Kaydence

This is baby Kaydence. She is the second child of our good friends, Hilary and Brian Holmes. She is Micha's little sister. We met the Holmes over two years ago when both Hilary and I were pregnant with our first child. We were in a baby class with them at the hospital. From that class several couples formed a baby group that got together once a week for dinner and play. This continued until the babies were a little older than 1. We no longer get together as a group, but the Holmes have stayed good friends of ours. Hilary stays home with Micha and we have continued with play dates when we can coordinate our schedules. I am writing this tonight asking for your prayers for this little girl. Kaydence is in the NICU at Vandy. Since birth she has struggled with breathing on her own. She has come such a long way but has a lot further to go. Tomorrow she is having surgery at 10:30 am. Please, Please, say a special prayer for her, the doctors caring for her, and her parents. Also, please add her to your prayer list. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet her today and she is just precious.

A little side note, Jacob Tuley is Kaydence's neighbor at Vandy. He is another baby that needs your prayers. His aunt is Jenny Reynolds Tuley from McMinnville. We grew up in the same church. Small world.

Snow Pictures

We finally got snow over an inch! I am guessing there was at least 4 inches everywhere and more than that in the drifts. When we woke up on Sunday morning, Justin could not wait to take Mylie outside to play in the snow. I haven't seen him this excited about snow ever. He usually doesn't even like to talk about snow because of his job. It would mean long cold hours on the road. But, Sunday was different I guess because he didn't have to work.
